Thank You to Our Supporters

The Gold Star Memorial Trail is a resident-led grassroots initiative working through The Friends of Dodge County Parks, Inc. (FODCPI) with assistance from staff of the Dodge County Parks Department. FODCPI is a 501c3 non-profit organization financially supported by individuals, businesses, organizations and others for the purpose of enhancing the quality of life in Dodge County by increasing opportunities for active and passive recreation and by preserving, protecting, restoring and promoting natural resources, parks, trails and recreation areas owned and/or maintained by Dodge County.

The Gold Star Memorial Trail received a WI Department of Natural Resources Stewardship Grant in October 2015. The Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program preserves valuable natural areas and wildlife habitat, protects water quality and fisheries, and expands opportunities for outdoor recreation. The conservation and recreation goals of the Stewardship Program are achieved through the acquisition of land and easements, development of recreational facilities, and restoration of wildlife habitat. This $178,000 award will be put toward design and construction of Phase 1 along with two National Recreational Trail Act grants.

Many supporters matched a challenge grant from the Ted & Grace Bachhuber Foundation in late 2016. Thank you to all who contributed to meet the challenge grant!

Over $700,000 in donations and grants has been raised for Phase 1 since 2014.
