Supporters of the Gold Star Memorial Trail celebrated another milestone in late August. Wisconsin Secretary of Transportation Craig Thompson was on hand to announce the Trail being awarded a nearly $1.1 million Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) from the WI Department of Transportation. The grant, which requires a 20% local match (about $200,000) will help construct Phase 2 of the Trail, connecting the City of Horicon with the Wild Goose State Trail.
Many local media outlets, Mayors of Beaver Dam and Horicon, Dodge County Executive, Gold Star families from around the state, and other local supporters were also on hand at the official announcement (photo above by Ken Thomas, Daily Citizen).
