Many positive efforts have taken place over the past few months and an important decision by the Dodge County Board on February 21st could result in an immediate start of construction for the GSMT! (A negative vote will likely delay the project indefinitely.)

Through diligent efforts of our GSMT volunteer committee, the Dodge County Land Resources and Parks staff, the project consultant and the graciousness of the contractor (a Vietnam Vet), the designs were modified and significant cost reductions realized over the original construction bid. The project bid cost was reduced from $824,886 to $666,657, bringing the total project cost including design/engineering to $756,657. This still results in a $94,000 funding gap – (total cost minus available donations and grants).

Based on bidding market conditions and the design and cost adjustments made, we believe we have the best pricing we
will get for the project. The more we delay, the higher the cost is likely to go. Therefore have asked the County Board to
close this $94,000 funding gap to allow the project to move forward immediately.
