The GSMT planning committee is excited to announce the official Grand Opening event for Phase 1 of the trail. The event will take place on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Theiler Park in Mayville. Events will begin at 9am with the Dedication Ceremony at 10am. Attendees will be invited to participate in a ribbon cutting and walk/ride the Gold Star Memorial Trail at 11am.
This is a FREE public event and will happen rain or shine!
Gold Star families will lead the family-friendly walk/roll/bicycle ride along the trail from Theiler Park towards The Horicon Marsh Education & Visitors Center. Attendees can travel as much or as little of the 2.1 miles as they wish. The Explorium at the Center will be free for Gold Star families and veterans and discounted to $2/person for general admission.
We encourage you to walk or ride your bike to this event if you are able. There will be ADA parking in the lot near the ball diamonds. Others are asked to park in the old Shopko parking lot or Agnesian clinic parking lot and walk/ride the Theiler Park trails to the pavilion. Limited seating will be available for the Dedication. Bring your own lawn chair.
